In nature, hardy terrestrial orchids can be found in almost any climate, ranging from wet temperate forests to arctic semi-deserts. Hardy orchids can therefore be grown in most gardens in temperate climates.

Sterile propagation of European, North American and Asian terrestrial orchids from seeds is not as difficult as many people think. With a little practice, it may done in an ordinary kitchen without expensive laboratory equipment. On this homepage, I present the basic steps of the in-vitro techniques. I hope you will find in-vitro propagation of orchids as fascinating as I do.

I am always looking for new challenges, so please contact me if you have seeds from terrestrial orchids that are uncommon in European collections. I am especially looking for North American and Asian species.

Digging of orchids is a serious threat to rare species, and illegal in most countries. Do not dig wild orchids.
